The city is updating five Scottsdale parks with new playgrounds.
Mountain View Park was the first to undergo renovations and has been open to the public since December.
Horizon, Thunderbird and Aztec parks are undergoing renovations and are closed through mid- to late February.
Northsight Park reopened recently with a new playground. A new shade structure will be completed before summer.
Each of these parks original playgrounds dated back to 1995-97.
In addition to new playground equipment, the sand has been replaced with ADA-compliant engineered wood chips. These chips are safer and cleaner for play areas.
The city's Capital Improvement Plan funded the renovations.
