Scottsdale Fire highlights outstanding service, promotions

Scottsdale Fire Department recognized outstanding employee and volunteer achievements and promotions at its annual ceremony on Nov. 8 at the Scottsdale Museum of the West in the South Plaza.

“Dedication to excellence for our community is evident in these honorees,” said Fire Chief Tom Shannon. “Living the ‘We Care for You’ philosophy is at the core of what they do on a daily basis.”

SFD honored the new hires and promotions in the past year, as follows:

Those honored for being outstanding members or friends of the fire department were:

  • Community Partner of the Year – University of Arizona
  • Volunteer of the Year – Jack Woyner
  • Civilian Employee of the Year – Ben Zwieg
  • Firefighter of the Year – Firefighter Ned Greenleaf
  • Officer of the Year – Captain Bill Gutman
  • Chief’s Award for Outstanding Service – Len Wood and Linda Simmons
  • Meritorious Service – Dr. Charles “Chip” Finch

Also at the event, several past members received their Retired and Emeritus badges.

“We appreciate the opportunity to highlight the good work our people do,” Shannon said.
