Riots, Racism and Reconciliation

Please join us for a virtual lunch and dialogue hosted by the Scottsdale Human Relations Commission beginning at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 28.

This conversation will review the 2020 Scottsdale riot, local media coverage involving hate crimes and solicit audience stories and conversation as we continue working toward a Scottsdale for all people.

This discussion will feature content from the TedTalk by Baratunde Thurston, “Deconstructing racism one headline at a time”, as a way to help us understand better the racialized experiences people may have.

Meet the Moderator Dr. Joel Martin: Dynamic international consultant, trainer and executive coach, Dr. Martin is a visionary leader who holds a PhD. in Communications and a master’s degree in psychology. She specializes in diversity and inclusion, interpersonal skill building and effective dialogue. She is the owner of Triad West, Inc. in Scottsdale and is the founder of the Positively Powerful Woman Awards.
