If you picked up a free tree at the Old Town Farmers Market... READ THIS!

Scottsdale partnered with Green Living Magazine to share 30 simple eco-friendly solutions during the month of April to celebrate Earth Day, April 22. Residents were encouraged to let us know what they are actively doing to help the environment by sharing on social media with the hashtag  #ScottsdaleSimpleSolutions. Those who entered won a free 1-gallon native mesquite tree that they were able to pick up at the Old Town Farmers Market on Saturday, April 24.

Thank you to everyone who participated and shared the amazing things you are doing to take care of our planet.

We are proud to be recognized as a Tree City USA community by the National Arbor Day Foundation for the 39th year, more times than any other Arizona community. Scottsdale understands how important trees are, providing health and economic benefits. They give us oxygen, store carbon, improve air and water quality, provide shade and so much more! That is why we continue to uphold our long-time commitment to planting new trees every year. For the 51st anniversary of Earth Day, the city set out to plant 51 trees at our parks. We surpassed that goal and we planted 86 new trees. And now you will also be contributing to adding another new tree!

If you picked up a free tree, we wanted to share some helpful resources:
