By A survey conducted by the League of American Bicyclists is the next step in Scottsdale’s application for “Bicycle Friendly Community” status.

Scottsdale Transportation submitted its application for the Bicycle Friendly Community program
in August to the League of American Bicyclists. The league is now asking for more input via a follow-up online survey
to gain a better understanding of local bicyclists’ experiences.
The city held two public meetings and conducted its own biking survey over the summer to gather input for the application. Senior Transportation Planner Susan Conklu said the city got a great response.
“We’re grateful to everyone who took the time to fill out our survey. We were able to use a bunch of the information in our application and for our future program improvements,” said Conklu. “We’re hoping these folks and some new ones will take a few more minutes to fill out the league’s follow-up survey.”
Scottsdale is one of only 39 communities nationwide rated Gold level or higher by the league but aims to achieve a Platinum rating.
The survey will remain open until Sunday, Sept. 22, and the league will announce the awards in November.
