City hires new Human Resources director

Monica Boyd, HR DirectorAfter an extensive search, the city of Scottsdale has hired Monica Boyd to lead its Human Resources Department.

She has over 20 years of experience with the city of Phoenix, including more than 10 of those in senior-level human resources management. She currently serves as the deputy human resources director managing the Organizational Support and Leave Management Programs division. 

City Manager Jim Thompson said, “Monica is an experienced leader with the proven ability to develop others, foster a team environment and successfully build cross-divisional teams to support key human resources initiatives.” 

Boyd holds degrees from Arizona State University – a Master of Public Administration and bachelor’s in interdisciplinary studies with concentrations in business and psychology. She earned her Society for Human Resource Management-Certified Professional designation and certification in workplace mediation. 

“I am thrilled to be joining the city Dec. 12. I look forward to working alongside so many talented people and being a part of this amazing culture,” said Boyd.

In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family outdoors and gardening.
