The City Clerk is responsible for giving notices of all City Council meetings and keeping records of Council proceedings and actions; administering timely and accurate accumulation, preservation, and accessibility of public records; conducting fair and open municipal elections; and managing compliance with legal postings.
The records management program can be improved by providing regular, comprehensive training; ensuring records inventories and records destruction certificates are current and accurate; and resuming inspections of departmental records. Additionally, computer-based trainings for records management and for board and commission staff liaisons could improve availability when needed for reference.
The department agreed with the recommendations and plans to complete implementation by March 2023.
