The Scottsdale Housing Agency (SHA) will open its ‘Waitlist Lottery’ for the Housing Choice Voucher Program (formally referred to as Section 8) from 10 a.m., June 1 through 3 p.m., June 17.
All applications received during that time will be entered into a lottery, and the SHA will randomly select 2,200 interest applications. Those 2,200 individuals will then be invited to complete the formal application process to be placed on the wait list to participate in the Housing Choice Voucher Program. Applicants not selected will have to reapply for assistance at another time.
Applications for the Waitlist Lottery will be ONLY accepted online at Scottsdale.MyHousing.com. Paper applications will not be accepted. If an applicant requires special assistance with the application process or does not have internet access, they may contact the SHA help desk at 480-312-0049 Monday – Friday from June 1 at 10 a.m. to June 17 at 3 p.m. and a service representative will assist them.
The results of the Waitlist Lottery will be available in the online Applicant Portal after June 30, 2022.
To help answer questions, Scottsdale will host a bilingual Community Information Session about the Housing Choice Voucher Program on Thursday, May 26 from 1 – 2 p.m. at the Paiute Neighborhood Center, located at 6535 E Osborn Rd.
Who Can Apply: All families and individuals may apply, however, to be eligible for the Housing Choice Voucher Program, household must not exceed 50% of the area median income. (To see if you qualify, visit ScottsdaleAZ.gov, search ‘Housing Choice Voucher’.)
How To Apply: Interest applications will be accepted from June 1 at 10 a.m. through June 17 at 3 p.m. If you have the required information gathered before you begin the online application, the process should take approximately 4 minutes per household member to complete.
Complete the interest application online at Scottsdale.MyHousing.com. If you require special assistance or do not have internet access, complete the interest application by telephone by calling 480-312-0049.
To Apply, You Will Need:
1. Social Security Numbers for all family members, if applicable.
2. Birth dates for all family members.
3. Total gross annual household income (all sources of income such as social security, wages, child/spousal support, cash assistance, family/friend contributions, odd jobs, etc. for all household members).
4. Computer/Internet Access: Application can be made on any computer, tablet, or smartphone with Internet access. Public computers are not available at the Scottsdale Housing Agency offices. Community libraries and other public resource centers normally offering free computer access may have limited access.
