Alarm Awareness School
Ironically, a major public safety problem is caused by alarm systems.
According to Scottsdale Police Department, officers responded to 15,544 alarms in 2009, of which 10,325 or 2/3 of the total, were false. These chargeable alarm activation’s require a time commitment by the Police of over 3,786 hours annually.
Since police and fire professionals respond to all calls, these false alarms waste precious tax dollars and divert public safety officers from “real” emergency situations.
The City of Scottsdale wants to work with you to reduce false alarms, which will mean better utilization of tax dollars and better focus of public safety professionals efforts.
