How to Apply

Step 1

To qualify for assistance, applicants must:

  • Live in Scottsdale
  • Provide verification of a recent financial hardship
  • Meet income guidelines

Step 2

Gather required documentation:

  • Government-issued ID or driver’s license for applicant
  • Current lease/mortgage statement
  • Financial hardship verification
  • Income verification (if there has been no income, verification of how you have paid for rent, utilities, food since last income)
  • Verification of lawful presence for applicant
  • Social Security cards for all household members

Additional documentation required for COVID Emergency Rental Assistance:

  • Verification that a household member has qualified for Unemployment Insurance from the Arizona Department of Economic Security (DES) at any point dating back to March 13, 2020 OR verification of a financial hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic
  • Verification demonstrating risk of homelessness or housing instability including past due rent notice or utility bill, eviction notice, utility shut off notice, writ of restitution, judgement related to eviction, or proof of less than 7 days of pre-paid utility remaining on pre-paid account
  • Landlord Verification Formlinks to external site completed by the landlord. Landlords must also register herelinks to external site as a Maricopa County vendor OR submit a completed W-9 formlinks to external site

Step 3

Apply online by clicking the button below for Maricopa County's Client Portal. From the Client Portal homepage, select "Start the Application" and complete the Application Prescreen. Residents that meet basic eligibility criteria will be invited to create an account, complete an application, and submit required documents.

Once an online application has been submitted, a member of our staff will contact you to discuss next steps in the process. Additional documents will be requested throughout the process. Assistance with printing, scanning, and copying pre-screening documents is available at Vista del Camino by appointment only.
