Fire Station 6 serves a population of more than 19,000 that includes the Scottsdale Unified School District "Desert Mountain Learning Community," featuring Desert Mountain High School, 3 middle schools and 5 elementary schools.
Apparatus at Station 6 includes a fire engine and the
Hazardous Materials Response vehicle that is staffed by a four-person crew of two EMTs and two Paramedics who are also HazMat Techs -- specially-trained to respond to HazMat calls, like natural gas leaks. The central location of Station 6 allows the crews to respond to these calls quicker.
The station was built in 1985.
