Project Information

Construction is underway on Fire Station 616 and is scheduled to be complete during the winter of 2020. The new station will include crew quarters and facilities, OSHA-certified decontamination area, safety gear storage and an apparatus bay. Upon completion Fire Station 616 will be staffed by a four-person crew manning a fire engine and a brush truck. The new station will be one story, designed specifically for this site and will reflect the character of the area.

Background

Fire Station 616 is currently located at a city water site, in a temporary trailer structure. In 2009 the current site was purchased with the intent to build a permanent fire station to improve response times in the immediate service area, be more accessible to the community, and provide a safe and permanent home for the firefighters and equipment currently stationed in the temporary facility.

Currently the City of Scottsdale Fire Department operates Station 616 out of a temporary double-wide trailer. The facility is co-located at a Scottsdale Well site making access and visibility limited. The ingress/egress drive is an approximately ¼ mile gravel road that passes through washes.

Land was purchased in 2009 at 10905 E Loving Tree Lane with the intent to build a permanent fire station to improve response times in that service delivery area. Access to and from the new station would occur via Cave Creek Rd.  In the 2015 Bond Election Scottsdale voters approved funds to design and build the new station.

Community Outreach

The project team met with residents in February and March of 2017 to review design concepts with the community and get feedback. The project successfully completed the Municipal Use Master Site Plan hearing process.
