Senior Services Programs

Some seniors in Scottsdale need support. In order to assist our neighbors in need, Scottsdale has created programs focused on assisting income-eligible, isolated seniors.

Our Brown Bag program offers Scottsdale seniors bi-monthly food distribution. Adopt a Senior is our Holiday program, running October - December.  Beat the Heat is a Summer program where necessary summer supplies are delivered to home-bound seniors.

We rely on donations to keep these programs going! If you aren't able to adopt a senior, a monetary donation will go to programs supporting seniors in Scottsdale.

Brown Bag Program

The Brown Bag Program offers Scottsdale seniors a bi-monthly food distribution on the 1st and 3rd Thursday morning of every month. The bags consists of five or six different items such as fresh vegetables, canned goods, drinks, breads and cold food items. The Brown Bag program is supported by Scottsdale Community Partners, a non-profit 501(c)(3) agency, in addition to grant funding provided by the City of Scottsdale. Efforts are coordinated through HonorHealth and St. Mary’s Food Bank to provide the items distributed. The purpose of this application is to meet the requirements of various entities who help support this food supplement program.

  • A Holiday sponsor will receive a list of no more than 5 items from a senior's wish list to provide, as well as give the senior a $35 grocery card and a book of stamps. The average holiday sponsor spends between $150 to $200 on all items.

When signing up as a sponsor, you will select if you are signing up to sponsor for both programs, or only one. All gift card donations can be dropped off or mailed to the Via Linda Senior Center.

Beat the Heat - Summer Program

Bring summer relief for home-bound Scottsdale Senior in need.

This program serves two equally important functions. First, we serve homebound seniors with heat relief items to help keep them cool during the summer. Second, City of Scottsdale staff and volunteers assess the needs of our vulnerable seniors and help connect to any needed resources. We rely on monetary donations and needed items to make this program possible.

Please bring donations to the Via Linda Senior Center starting April 4 through May 27. Donations will be accepted Monday through Friday from 8:00a.m. to 4:00p.m.

Monetary donations are accepted through Friday, May 27.
