10 tips to keep special event goers prepared, safe

As the city gears up for major events like Barrett-Jackson and the Waste Management Phoenix Open, Scottsdale Fire urges attendees to follow simple tips to be prepared and be safe.

  1. See something? Say something! Report any crime or questionable activity right away.
  2. Make sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day.
  3. Use sunscreen and wear weather appropriate clothing (hats, sunglasses, and closed toe walking shoes).
  4. Pay attention to your surroundings. Make sure you familiarize yourself with the area.
  5. Use a sober driver or take a share ride.
  6. Plan a meeting point in case you become separated from members of your group.
  7. Make sure you know where the exits are.
  8. Place your phone number in your child’s pocket in case you get separated.
  9. Charge your phone. Make sure to memorize or write down important numbers in case of emergency.
  10. Be courteous to others and have a great time in Scottsdale!
