New rebates for Scottsdale Water customers

Scottsdale Water has revamped its rebate program making it easier for you to save water and money inside and outside your home or business. The new program includes more rebate options and makes existing rebates available to more customers.

The city has expanded the plumbing rebates for businesses, homeowners associations and single- and multifamily residences to include a $200 rebate for the installation of a WaterSense labeled urinal, which use one gallon of water or less per flush. The EPA estimates the average office building could reduce its water use by switching from old, inefficient urinals by 26,000 gallons per year or more.

Other plumbing rebate modifications include increasing the rebate amount for installing WaterSense labeled showerheads to $25 per fixture and requiring that toilets be WaterSense labelled to qualify for a rebate ($75 per toilet). The new program also removed the previous eligibility restriction that required homes be built prior to 1992. Homes and buildings of any age are eligible under the new program.

Scottsdale is making it easier to save money outside the home as well, simplifying the requirements for turf removal rebates and clarifying the WaterSense requirement for irrigation controllers, which are still eligible for a rebate of up to $250.

Scottsdale is also the first city in the Valley to offer a rebate for pool or spa removal. Pools in Scottsdale evaporate approximately their total volume annually, meaning an 18,000 gallon pool will lose about 18,000 gallons of water per year to evaporation. Scottsdale’s new rebate of up to $1,500 will help cover the cost of removing your high-water-use pool.

Water softener rebates are once again available to single-family residences with new eligibility for multifamily and commercial properties. Scottsdale Water customers may receive up to $250 for removing salt-using water softeners.
