Donations to City of Scottsdale Human Services

FOOD

Vista del Camino Food Bank accepts donations of canned foods and non-perishable items.  Items most needed include peanut butter, tuna or canned meat, spaghetti sauce, pasta, rice, dried or canned beans, jelly, soup, canned fruit, cereal and boxes of macaroni and cheese.

 

TOILETRIES

Vista del Camino Food Bank accepts donations of toiletries.  Items most needed include toothpaste, toothbrushes, bar soap, shampoo, deodorant, laundry detergent, dishwashing soap and toilet paper.

 

CLOTHING

Vista del Camino Clothing Bank accepts donations of new or gently used casual and career clothing for men and women, baby and children’s clothing in all sizes, new socks and underwear, jeans and shoes in good condition.  A Career Closet is also available which accepts professional wear for individuals re-entering the world of work.

 

BACK-TO-SCHOOL-CLOTHING PROGRAM

Each August Vista del Camino conducts a Back-to-School Clothing Program for approximately 500 low-income Scottsdale youth.  Donations needed for the program include clothing, socks, underwear, shoes, backpacks and school supplies.  Hair stylists are also needed to provide free haircuts.

 

HOLIDAY ADOPT-A-FAMILY PROGRAM

Each November/December Vista del Camino conducts an Adopt-a-Family program for Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Donations needed for the Thanksgiving program include turkeys, potatoes, stuffing, and pumpkin pies.  Donations needed for the Christmas program include new children’s clothing, toys, games, hams, and grocery and department store gift certificates.

 

HOLIDAY ADOPT-A-SENIOR PROGRAM

Each November/December Via Linda Senior Center and Granite Reef Senior Center provide holiday boxes for isolated, frail homebound senior citizens.  Donations needed include grocery gift cards ($20 or $25 each), new clothing (i.e., sweatshirts, socks, robes, pajamas, nightgowns, and undershirts), personal hygiene items (i.e., toothpaste, toothbrushes, lip balm, Kleenex and lotions), postage stamps, pens, pencils, pads of paper, small bags of candy or cookies, and holiday greeting cards.

 

BEAT-THE-HEAT SENIOR PROGRAM

Each June/July Via Linda Senior Center and Grante Reef Senior Center provide a box of summer goods for isolated, frail homebound senior citizens.   Donations needed include canned fruits and vegetables, cereals, canned meats, soups, juices, gelatin cups, nutritional supplement drinks - such as Boost, Ensure, energy drinks - such as Gatorade, water bottles, peanut butter and crackers, cookies - regular and sugar free, sunscreen & body lotion, lip balm, sunglasses, wet wipes, current magazines of general interest, large print books, hats - with wide brim, and umbrellas.
