Traffic Restrictions Update

The following is a partial list of road construction projects and traffic restrictions taking place in Scottsdale July 29 - Aug. 8, 2010. For more information, contact: adechance@ScottsdaleAz.gov
Note - New items are in bold.
DYNAMITE AND 56TH STREET
Crews continuing working on the construction of a new sewer line along Dynamite Road week days from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Sept. 30. During this time:
**Dynamite Boulevard is restricted east and westbound from 56th to 64th streets.
**Eastbound traffic is shifted into the westbound lane.
**Westbound traffic is shifted onto a temporary paved shoulder.
Access to homes will be maintained at all times

SCOTTSDALE ROAD AND THOMPSON PEAK PARKWAY CLOSURE
**Thompson Peak Parkway will be closed between Scottsdale Road and 73rd Street from 9 p.m. Friday, August 6 until 2 p.m. Saturday, August 7 to repair and repave the roadway. A detour will be provided using 73rd Street. Access to all homes and businesses will be maintained at all times.

OTHER RESTRICTIONS ON SCOTTSDALE ROAD
**The intersection of Scottsdale Road and Highland Avenue will be restricted eastbound from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. through Aug. 3.
**Scottsdale Road is restricted to one lane southbound from Camelback Road to Stetson Drive and the sidewalk is closed through August 1 while crews build new curb and sidewalk on the southwest corner of Scottsdale Road and Camelback.
**Expect north and south bound restrictions on Scottsdale Road at 71st Street (between Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard and Paradise Lane) from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. beginning Aug.2 through Aug. 10.

MILLER & CAMELBACK ROADS - SEWER LINE INSTALLATION
Installation of a new sewer line is underway on Miller Road from Indian School Road to Camelback Road and on Camelback Road from Miller Road to just east of Scottsdale Road.
The following restrictions on Miller Road from Montecito Avenue to Camelback Road are in place and expected to last through early September:
**Traffic is reduced to one lane in each direction.
**North and southbound traffic on Miller Road is shifted to the east side of Miller Road while construction takes place on the west side of Miller Road.
** Camelback Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Scottsdale Road and Buckboard Trail through July 23.
Also - Emergency utility work is creating additional restrictions at Indian School and Miller roads
**Westbound Indian School Road will be reduced to one lane approaching Miller Road through Friday August 13.
**The restriction will begin just west of the intersection near the entrance driveway to the Fry's grocery store on the north side of Indian School.
Qwest telecommunications crews require the around-the-clock lane closure to repair telephone and data lines that run below the street. This closure is expected to last 10 to 14 days.
Alternate east-west routes are suggested.

PIMA ROAD IMPROVEMENTS – VIA DE VENTURA TO INDIAN BEND ROAD
Improvements to Pima Road from Via de Ventura to McDowell Road are under way. The first section scheduled for improvements is from Inner Circle Drive, just north of Indian Bend Road, to the Arizona Canal. Construction is expected last through September.
** Pima Road is closed to all north and southbound traffic from McDonald Drive to Inner Circle Drive.
When complete, Pima Road will have two lanes in each direction, a landscaped median, bike lanes, a sidewalk on the east side of the street, new streetlights, landscaping and storm water improvements.

PIMA ROAD FROM DEER VALLEY TO PINNACLE PEAK ROADS
As part of the improvements on Pima Road between Deer Valley and Pinnacle Peak roads, the following traffic restrictions are scheduled as crews work to install new curb, gutter, driveways, sidewalks and pavement:
**North and southbound travel on Pima Road is reduced to one lane in each direction. **Traffic continues to be shifted to the west side of Pima Road, south of Pinnacle Peak Road.
** Paraiso Drive will be closed on the east side of Pima Road until early October.
**Work continues on the culvert under Calle Buena Vista and will occur on one-half of the driveway at a time so that access to the street will always be maintained.
**Traffic at Los Gatos continues be shifted to the WEST side of Pima Road through the intersection.
**The first driveway south of Pinnacle Peak Road on the east side of Pima Road is closed.
**Left turns will be allowed at the intersection of Pinnacle Peak and Pima Road but may be restricted in various places south of the intersection when construction crews are present.
Please drive with caution in the area and obey all traffic signs.
When complete, Pima Road will consist of six lanes (three southbound and three northbound) with a landscaped median from the Deer Valley alignment to Pinnacle Peak Road. This will include widening the road through the Pinnacle Peak Road intersection to its ultimate configuration. The project also will include drainage improvements, non-motorized multi-use trails, and a public art element in the design.

RESTRICTIONS ON HAYDEN ROAD
**The intersection of Hayden Road and Raintree Drive is restricted in all directions and 82nd Street and Raintree Drive is restricted north and southbound from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. through July 30.
**The northbound curb lane on Hayden Road between Osborn to just south of Indian School Road will be closed through Aug. 2 so crews can reconstruct the existing barrier between Hayden Road and the frontage road.
**Expect delays southbound on Hayden Road between Jackrabbit and Chaparral roads for restrictions at the east-west cross streets of Pecos Lane and the Safeway driveway from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. beginning Aug. 2 through Aug. 10 for construction of the Indian Bend Wash path connection.
**Medlock Drive (just north of Chaparral Road) is closed to east-west traffic at Hayden Road beginning Aug. 2 through Aug. 10 for the construction of the Indian Bend Wash path connection.

RESTRICTIONS ON VIA LINDA
**The eastbound curb lane on Via Linda at 124th Street is closed from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. through August 31.
**Via Linda is restricted westbound at 118th Street from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. through August 31.

NEW UTILITY AND STREET WORK THROUGHOUT THE CITY
**Expect east and westbound restrictions at the intersection of Pima and Indian School roads from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. through Aug. 13.

CONTINUING UTILITY AND STREET WORK THROUGHOUT THE CITY
**The eastbound curb lane at the intersection of 82nd Street and Raintree Drive is restricted from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. through July 30.
**Northbound Miller Road and Granada will be shifted to the center left turn lane through July 30 for driveway installation of the new fire station.
**Westbound Cactus Road is reduced to one lane between 67th Street and 68th Place and no left turns are allowed for east or westbound traffic at 68th Place from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. through July 30 for a water line installation.
**The eastbound curb lane on McDowell Road is restricted from 85th Place to 87th Street from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. through July 30.
** Single lane closures will take place at times in both directions of Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard from Altadena to Desert Cove avenues from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily through July 30.
**Greenway-Hayden Loop will be restricted in all directions from Scottsdale Road to Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. through August 13.
