70th Street Pedestrian and Bicycle Study
Project Background
Over the past few years, Transportation staff has been reviewing and studying pedestrian and bicycle connections throughout the city. Recently, we determined a need to improve the pedestrian/bicycle connection near 70th Street, between Wilshire Drive and Thomas Road. (View map.) There were several reasons for this:
- No existing sidewalks in the neighborhood
- Provide this missing pedestrian/bicycle link in this area to downtown
- Improve pedestrian/bicycle safety in the neighborhood
This proposed project would safely connect the 70th Street corridor to downtown Scottsdale. Funding for the study and design is from a Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG) grant.
In June of 2009, we met with property owners adjacent to the corridor to get their input and opinions to determine the best possible pedestrian and bicycle connection through this area and provide a preliminary design for the neighborhood. (View the presentation from that meeting.)
We are now ready to present preliminary designs to the entire neighborhood and get your input and feedback. Please join us at a neighborhood meeting on:
Monday, November 2nd
