68th Street - Shea Blvd to Turquoise Ave. - Neighborhood Traffic Management Project

The City of Scottsdale Transportation Department has been working with residents on 68th Street from Shea Boulevard to Turquoise Avenue to address speeding and cut through traffic concerns. Currently, a petition is being circulated by your neighbors to gather signatures to show support of the proposed project plan.

    • Drainage is our biggest challenge and we are working with several other city departments to coordinate a design for this type of median and get approval from the Stormwater, Streets, Parks and Recreation, and Fire Departments.
  • Once the design phase is completed, Transportation staff will work with the neighborhood on the proposed design and ask for comments and feedback.

The proposed plan consists of six medians and three side islands on 68th Street with a single median island on Beryl Avenue, Turquoise Avenue, and 66th Avenue. These median and side islands will be flush with the existing pavement and approximately 10 feet wide by 50 feet long with landscape. Additionally, a median and speed table are being proposed on Gold Dust Avenue.

Medians and side islands can reduce vehicle speeds by forming S-shaped curves in the street that break up the visual image of a wide, straight road and narrowing the traffic lanes.
