Hayden Frontage Road Barrier
UPDATED - October 2009
City staff has been working with residents who live directly on the frontage of Hayden Road to determine the type of barrier improvements to make and other changes that will help improve safety for the entire neighborhood.
Final design of the barrier is complete and construction is scheduled to begin in late October and should take approximately six weeks to complete.

May 2009
Residents who live directly on the Hayden frontage road were invited to a meeting on April 30th to provide input on several barrier treatment options.
Due to fire access and sight visibility constraints, the barrier options presented to the residents were:
- Enhance the existing cable barrier (See sketches – Cross Section, View from Frontage Road, View from Hayden Road)
- Replace the cable barrier with a low profile concrete barrier (See sketches – Cross Section, View from Frontage Road, View from Hayden Road)
- Replace the cable barrier with a modified trellis similar to Indian School Road between Hayden and Pima roads. (See sketches – Cross Section, View from Frontage Road, View from Hayden Road)
The preferred option of the meeting attendees was to replace the existing cable barrier with a low profile concrete barrier. (View preferred options - Cross Section, View from Frontage Road, View from Hayden Road)
Residents also supported partially closing the frontage road to through traffic, and adding landscaping to enhance the area. (View sketch)
The construction of the new barrier treatment is scheduled to be complete by Fall 2009.
