Policy changes regarding freeboard in AO Flood Zones
The city of Scottsdale has updated requirements for lowest floor elevations for development in FEMA Flood Zone AO. The new requirements are aligned with state statutes and FEMA’s National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) requirements. Formerly, city standards required that lowest floor elevations be at or above the depth of flooding indicated on Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs). Effective Jan. 1, 2012, the city requires that they be set at one (1) foot above the depth of flooding indicated on the FIRMs.
