Policy changes regarding freeboard in AO Flood Zones
The city of Scottsdale is updating requirements for lowest floor elevations for development in FEMA AO Flood Zones. The new requirements will align with state statutes and National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) standards. Current city standards require that lowest floor elevations must be equal to or greater than the depth number indicated on the Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM). Beginning Jan. 1, the city will require that they be set at one (1) foot above the depth number on the FIRM.
