The City of Scottsdale is committed to supporting the full inclusion of persons with disabilities into all public facilities, programs, and activities. If you need assistance to access and enjoy any of these programs, please contact Adapted Recreation Services at (480) 312-2234. All requests must be made after completing your registration and be requested a minimum of 14 business days prior to the starting date of the program.
After School and Summer programs
- Segregated After School and Summer programs for teenagers aged 12-22 enrolled in Special Education classes.
- Inclusion Services for mainstream Afterschool and Summer programs.
- Variety of activities include sports, arts & crafts, cooking and community excursions.
Adapted Rec Social Activities
- Monthly Social Club community outings for adults. Past activities have included plays, sporting events, museum visits, and community festivals.
- Monthly dances for teens and adults on the 2nd Saturday of every month. 2$ entry fee at the door while a live dj spins today's popular hits.
Adapted Rec Outdoor Recreation
- Seasonal Adapted Rec Outdoor club. Activities include hiking, biking, and fishing.
- Annual spring 3 day outdoor retreat. Past locations have included Whispering Hope Ranch, Camp Shadow Pines, and Lake Pleasant.
Adapted Rec Scottsdale Bobcats Special Olympics
- Adult sports (18yrs.+) include: Basketball (Traditional, Unified, Individual Skills), Cheerleading, Track & Field, Aquatics and Bowling.
- Jr. sports (8-17yrs.) include: Basketball, Cheerleading, Aquatics, Bowling.
Adapted Rec Leisure Education Classes
- Cooking classes in the fall.
- Art classes in the spring.
Community integration/accommodation services
- Accommodation Services include providing accommodation staff to persons with disabilities who enroll in all inclusive City of Scottsdale recreation programs and/or leisure education classes.
- Community Integration Services include providing recreation resource materials, information, and equipment (where possible) to persons with disabilities new to the area or community that are seeking recreation opportunities.
