Blood Pressure Screenings
Offered at Granite Reef Senior Center and Via Linda Senior Center, volunteers provide screenings on a weekly basis. No appointment is necessary. Schedules vary throughout the year. Please call the Granite Reef Senior Center or Via Linda Senior Center for this month's current schedule.
The Granite Reef Senior Center, in partnership with Concerned Citizens for Community Health, provides medical equipment like canes, crutches, walkers, shower benches, and wheel chairs to Scottsdale residents for a small monthly rental donation fee. Items range from $5 to $20 per month. If you cannot afford the nominal donation, however, the fee can be waived. Call (480) 312-1700 to learn if we have the medical equipment you need.
MATTER of Balance
The award winning MATTER of BALANCE Program emphasizes practical strategies to reduce fear of falling and increase activity levels. Participants learn to view falls and fear of falling as controllable, set realistic goals to increase activity, change their environment to reduce fall risk factors, and exercise to increase strength and balance. Scottsdale Senior Services partners with Scottsdale Healthcare to offer MATTER of BALANCE sessions throughout the year at both the Granite Reef and Via Linda Senior Centers. Contact the centers for current schedules.
