Library Resources

CCTV (Closed Circuit TV) Machine:  Both the Granite Reef Senior Center and the Via Linda Senior Center offer a magnification device for those with low vision.   Each machine allows for the magnification of print up to 50 times.  These machines are offered free of charge and can be operated during normal business hours.


Eldercare Resource Libraries: 
The Granite Reef Senior Center and the Via Linda Senior Center each offer an Eldercare Library including books and video tapes on health and wellness issues.  These books are available for check out free of charge.   This is an excellent resource for Caregivers or those concerned with nutrition, depression, loss/transition, disease/illness, and medications, or other senior helath related issues.

Lending Libraries:  The Granite Reef Senior Center lends out paperback books free of charge.  These books may be checked out on the honor system, and donations are always welcome.

The Via Linda Senior Center lends out hard back books free of charge.  This library was established  in memory of Mark Damon Tischler.  These books may be borrowed on the honor system and donations are always welcome.

Informational Packets:  Resource packets highlighting issues such as Alzheimer's Caregivers, Caregivers, Grief/Loss, In Home Assistance, and Depression are available upon request at the Via Linda Senior Center.  These informational packets are a valuable resource for those dealing with these challenges, and can provide quick access of up-to-date information and support networks in the Valley.  These packets include useful web sites that can be accessed by family members anywhere.

Talking Books Machine:  The Via Linda Senior Center has a Talking Books Machine that can be used Monday through Friday from 8:00 am - 9:00 pm and Saturday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.   This machine plays tapes of current books and literature for those who have low vision.  Applications to obtain a free Talking Books Machine in your home are also available upon request.
