Classes
The Scottsdale Senior Centers offer a variety of computer programs and classes.   Classes include Introduction to Computers, Intermediate Windows, Word Processing and Introduction to the Internet.  Both the Granite Reef and Via Linda Senior Centers also offer a full line of specialty topic computer workshops.

Ed surfs the Internet

SeniorNet
SeniorNet is a nonprofit organization of that facilitates the computer classes at the Via Linda Senior Center.  Its mission is to provide older adults education and access to computer technology by offering a variety of classes from basic introduction to more advanced computer classes.  The organization is based in San Francisco.  The members at Via Linda volunteer their time and knowledge by assisting students enrolled in the classes.  SeniorNet membership is a prerequisite to take regular computer classes at the Via Linda Senior Center. 

 

Specialty Topic Workshops
Specialty topic workshops are one-day workshops that focus on specific computer subjects.  Topics for the upcoming winter session include:

  • Desktop Publishing
  • Making Computer Presentations
  • Enhancing Greeting Cards
  • I Do Windows (Operating System, that is)

  • Backing Up Your Computer Files
  • Scanning
  • Slide Shows from you Photographs
  • eBay

Open Labs

Open computer lab times are offered to provided the public with opportunities to utilize the city's computer equipment at your own pace.  Generally, open lab times are staffed by volunteers.  Open labs are offered at the following facilities:

Paiute Neighborhood Center

Tuesdays, from 9:30 to 11:30am

Granite Reef Senior Center

Wednesdays & Fridays, from 9:00am to 1:00pm
