Scottsdale Parks and Recreation
-A Credit to our community
Scottsdale is committed to quality Parks and Recreation programs and facilities. As part of this commitment Parks and Recreation has participated in a national accreditation process overseen by the National Recreation and Parks Association for the past 15 years. Scottsdale programs have been measured against the most rigorous standards for parks and recreation agencies by the Commission for Accreditation of Parks and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA).
This prestigious status puts Scottsdale in a category with only 116 other cities in the entire United States - only 4 in Arizona!
The accreditation effort involves a formal application and self-assessment that evaluates an agency's processes in 10 major categories and 155 best practice standards covering every aspect of operations. There is also a formal site visitation from the national accreditation team where meeting these standards is documented. Some of the many positive comments from the most recent site evaluation team:
- "Beautiful, clean parks and facilities"
- "Well-rounded scope of programs"
- "Professional staff...vested in the re-accreditation process"
- "Staff seem to love their jobs...smiling faces at facilities"
This accreditation is a quality assurance and quality improvement process demonstrating an agency’s commitment to its employees, volunteers, patrons and community.
The City of Scottsdale Parks and Recreation department is proud to be a CAPRA accredited agency and believes this helps keep us on the leading edge and focused on continuous improvement to assure the highest level of service, superior parks, and quality programs are available to the community.
Our next on-site visit and review for re-accreditation will be conducted in spring 2014.
