Floating Devices are Not Permitted

What qualifies as a floatation device?

  • Inflatable arm “floaties”.
  • Swimsuits with built in floatation.
  • Lifejackets.
  • Inner tubes, Noodles, Rafts, Kickboards.

Why are floatation devices not permitted?

  • Floatation devices give children a false sense of security in the water.
  • Some caregivers use floatation devices as a substitute for supervision – there is NO substitute for supervision with children around water.

What should I do if I have a young child that cannot swim?

  • You and your child can still get in and enjoy Eldorado Aquatic Center – you must stay within arms reach of your child at all times to ensure the child’s safety.
  • Sign your children up for learn to swim lessons.  The City of Scottsdale offers swim lessons in the Summer, Fall and Spring.  Ask our cashier or visit us on-line at www.scottsdaleaz.gov for more information.
  • It is very difficult to teach a child that is used to wearing “floaties” and being vertical in the water to learn to swim.  Actively supervise and encourage your child to get acclimated to the water without the use of floatation.

We want to provide a SAFE and FUN environment for you and your family.  Thank you for visiting a City of Scottsdale Aquatic Center!
