Scottsdale Update - July 6, 2017


Scottsdale Police Department launches program to aid in opioid overdoses. The initial phase of the program will train patrol officers on how to use Narcan, a drug that blocks the effects of opioids and reverses an overdose. By getting this lifesaving drug into the hands of first responders, the Scottsdale Police Department will be better equipped to serve the needs of our community.

Volunteers needed in July to help with Back-to-School Program donations. Sort, organize, distribute and inventory supplies for more than a thousand students for the Back-to-School Program. Distribution takes place Wednesday, July 26, at Scottsdale Stadium.


Scottsdale's recycled water is so purified it exceeds all drinking water quality standards and is actually cleaner than the groundwater in the aquifer we are recharging.


Senior center hosts cool ice cream social. This free event is from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, July 7, at the Via Linda Senior Center, 10440 E. Via Linda. Call 480-312-5810 to register or for more information.

Star-studded moonlight swims take place July 7, 21 & 22. Did you know that the sun's UV rays can damage skin in as little as 15 minutes? Avoid the danger by swimming under the stars Fridays, July 7 and 21, at McDowell Mountain Ranch Aquatic Center; and Saturday, July 22, at Eldorado. All events are from 5 to 9 p.m. Regular pool admission fees apply.

Learn ways to enhance the beauty of your home while saving water and money. Attend a Water Efficiency Workshop or Scottsdale Xeriscape Garden tour. The next class is "Take Control of your Landscape Watering." It takes place from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 13, at the Civic Center Library.
