Focus on safety as students head back to school. School starts next week and that means more cars, bicyclists and pedestrians will be on the streets. Remember, it's everyone's responsibility to know the rules of the road whether you're walking, bicycling or driving.
McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park closed for maintenance, Aug. 7-11. Enhancements include painting many outdoor shade structures, deep cleaning public facilities, repairing trains and making several other improvements. The park will reopen at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12.

"Using Infrared to Remotely Control Robots" - a "50 Forward" program, Aug. 12 and 17. Get hands-on instruction on how to remotely control a robot. "50 Forward" is a grant-funded series that invites those 50 and older to experiment, learn and play with new technology. Two free sessions are available: 10:30 to noon Saturday, Aug. 12, at Appaloosa Library; and 1:30 to 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, at Civic Center Library.
