Open data drives #Scottsdale28 campaign

Open data – it’s the idea that data should be freely available and accessible to everyone. It’s also a tool for Scottsdale to promote openness, transparency and accountability. Each day this month we’re sharing an online resource via Scottsdale’s social media channels to help residents and visitors learn about our city. 

As part of Scottsdale’s involvement in the What Works Cities Initiative, the social media campaign is one way to demonstrate how the city uses data to make decisions and deliver services. The national program helps cities evaluate how they use data and evidence to engage residents, make government more effective and improve lives. 

Day 1: Want to see active building permits in your neighborhood? We’ve got an interactive map for that!

Day 2: Discover how Scottsdale has changed and developed from 1969-2015 with historic aerial photography! Use our online map to see other changes!

Day 3: Our Day Three interactive map of #Scottsdale28 features public amenities. Check out our libraries, parks & Preserve trails:

Day 4: Make the switch to paperless utility billing! An online profile allows you to receive your utility bill electronically, monitor account activity, schedule automatic payments and more! Head to and click on ‘paperless billing’ to enroll.

Day 5: Plan your commute with an interactive map that shows active traffic restrictions throughout Scottsdale:

Day 6: Scottsdale is ranked among the best cities for bicycling. That popularity, however, comes at a cost – bicycle thefts. Protect yourself from thieves by registering your bikes:
