Suspect at large after fatal shooting

Today at 2:30 am, Scottsdale Patrol Officers responded to a shooting call at the intersection of Stetson and Civic Center Plaza.  As the officers arrived, they discovered an adult male subject with a gunshot wound to the head in the roadway. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he later died.  The victim has been identified as 34 year old Kyle Brayer, an off-duty Tempe Fire Department Captain.  fatal_shooting_2-4-18_1

Thus far in the investigation we know the following:  At 2:30 am, Brayer was riding on the back of a transportation cart (golf cart) with several other subjects southbound on Civic Center Plaza approaching Stetson.  A male subject driving a red Scion coupe began driving closely and bumping the rear end of the transportation cart.  The victim exited the cart, approached the driver of the Scion and was shot in head.  The suspect vehicle then fled the scene eastbound on Stetson and then southbound on 75th St, striking numerous other cars in the process.  

The suspect is this case is described as a black male, “clean cut” with short curly hair.  The suspect vehicle is described as a red 2014 to 2016 Scion TC coupe with body damage.
