Desert Foothills Fire Station 13
On Tuesday, August 25, 2009, the Scottsdale City Council is scheduled to vote on the purchase of a 2.5 acre parcel of land located at 7606 E. Jomax Road. The City plans to use this property in the future as the permanent location for Desert Foothills Fire Station 13.
Map of Proposed Site (pdf/33k/1p)
Currently, Scottsdale Fire Station 13 is located at 26602 N. Pima Road, at a city water site, in a temporary trailer structure. The proposed site is more centrally located, to allow for better coverage and reduced response times to emergencies in the northern areas of Scottsdale. This site was selected following the evaluation of more than 20 vacant sites in the area.
This property is being purchased under the Fire Department’s Capital Improvement Project (CIP) budget. However, there is no funding available for the design or construction of the station at this time. A formal CIP request for the design and construction of this project will be made to the City Council in a future budget year. Upon approval of funding, public meetings will be held to seek input and feedback on the design of the fire station.
An open house has been scheduled from 6-7:30 p.m., Wednesday, August 12, at the La Mirada Desert Center (8950 E. Pinnacle Peak Road). City staff will be available to answer questions and provide an overview of the site evaluation process.
