Community Emergency Response Training (CERT) educates community members in basic disaster prevention and response skills such as disaster preparedness, fire suppression, disaster medical operations, search and rescue, organization and disaster psychology.
The six-week course, held Tuesdays from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m., starting April 19, 2011 at the Tom Hontz Police & Fire Training Facility (911 E. Stadem Drive, Tempe), culminates in a disaster simulation on Saturday, May 28, 2011.
Classes are hands-on, intensive, and designed to offer students decision making and practical skills needed to safely assist families, neighbors and co-workers in the event of an emergency or disaster.
CERT training is free, but pre-registration is mandatory as class size is limited.
To register, visit www.scottsdaleaz.gov/emergencies/EMHSTraining or call (480) 312-8000.
