Scottsdale City Government 101

Whether you are a community activist, prospective council member, Board or Commission member, volunteer or neighborhood association leader…you are invited to participate in Scottsdale City Government 101 , an 8-week series of classes summarizing overall Scottsdale city government and how it works.

 

Scottsdale City Government 101 is a FREE program covering such topics as:

  • Citizen & Neighborhood Resources
  • City Finance
  • Community Services
  • Economic Development
  • Intergovernmental Relations
  • Municipal Services
  • Public Safety
  • Transportation
  • Water resources

Speakers include the City Manager and other Charter Officers as well as the General Managers and Administrators of many of the departments that citizens interact with most often. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions of city leadership in a relaxed setting.

 

When & Where

  • Series starts on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2008
  • Runs every week for 8 meetings
  • 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.
  • The location will vary.
  • A light dinner will be served beginning at 5:30 p.m.

City Manager, Mayor & Council Offices - Participants will receive an overview of the city and learn how a Council meeting is conducted and how to present to the Council.

Citizen & Neighborhood Resources - Learn about services that maintaining and enhancing the quality of life for Scottsdale residents by facilitating neighborhood preservation, revitalization and problem solving.
Transportation – an overview of the department, issues related to moving people and goods and a tour of the Traffic Management Center.
