Four simple waste reduction initiatives will help you reduce your waste:
Waste Prevention or source reduction, is the design,
manufacture, purchase or use of materials and products to reduce the amount and/or
toxicity of discarded waste.
Recycling is
the collection and use of materials that would otherwise have been discarded as the raw
materials in the manufacture of new products.
Composting is a natural
process by which food scraps, yard trimmings and other organic materials are collected and
allowed to decompose under controlled conditions into a rich, soil-like substance called
compost.
Closing the Loop is the purchase of products made from
recycled materials and/or designed to result in less waste after their useful life.
