Lights:
- Keep light fixtures and bulbs clean and turn off lights in spaces not in use.

cooling by 50%
- Sun screens, well sealed doors and double pane windows can help even more
Heating and Cooling Equipment:
- When buying new equipment look for best EER and SEER rating available
- In the Southwest, evaporative coolers are an energy efficient way to cool your home when
humidity is low. For best efficiency, be sure to keep your cooler well maintained
- To maintain your heating/air conditioning system at maximum efficiency:
- Set thermostat to 78 degrees in summer and 70 degrees in winter
- Use ceiling or portable fans to circulate the air to feel cooler at higher temperatures
in the summer
- Raise/lower the thermostat 5 degrees when no one is home
- Clean or replace filters every month
- Perform annual maintenance check-up
