Program Description |
The stormwater management program is responsible preparing and managing the city's drainage and flood control capital improvement plan, reviewing proposed development projects for compliance with the city's Floodplain and Stormwater Regulation Ordinance, managing the city's floodplains in accordance with requirements for participation in FEMA's National Flood Insurance Program, complying with federal and state stormwater quality regulations, inspecting watercourses to proactively identify stormwater code violations, and responding to drainage complaints. This program is funded through the operating budget and capital improvement plan.
Program Broad Goals
Plan and implement capital improvement projects to mitigate existing flood hazards, review improvement plans and drainage reports for compliance with the city's stormwater regulations in order to protect neighborhoods against adverse stormwater impacts due to new development, address drainage problems and stormwater code violations, and promote unpolluted stormwater runoff.
