Downtown Plan Update

  • The plan was to provide the framework for downtown decision making for 20 years - the city is approaching the culmination of that 20-year period timeframe
  • Public policy, market conditions and building technologies have changed, therefore the need to reevaluate and update long-range policies
  • The majority of implementation programs (identified by the plan) have been achieved

2011 General Plan Update

  • The General Plan is the overarching policy document for the city
  • Last updated in 2001 and ratified by the citizens in 2002
  • State law requires it be updated every 10 years -- 2011/2012
  • The process of updating the General Plan takes an average of 3-5 years

       - Requires extensive community outreach
