The Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) program operates the local traffic system and coordinates regionally through the Scottsdale Traffic Management Center. The program is responsible for the planning, installation and maintenance of the City's Traffic Signal Control System and the automated roadway management technology. This technology includes the Traffic View camera system & overhead dynamic message signs.  ITS coordinates with Scottsdale Police Department, Arizona Department of Public Safety, Maricopa County, and Arizona Department of Transportation for rapid incident response and provides City representation to neighboring communities and regional organizations.  ITS provides traffic management for on-street collisions and special events such as golf tournaments, auto auctions & marathons.  ITS also provides signal timing for new & existing signals and progression timing for main corridors.
