Human Services Endowment Program
Background:
The City of Scottsdale Endowment Program was created for residents to contribute to their community with financial gifts. The City established the Endowment Program in November 1991. The Arizona Community Foundation (ACF) manages the funds for the City.
Description of the Endowment Funds:
The Human Services Endowment Program includes two funds.
The Scottsdale Community Endowment Fund is used to carry out the purposes of community projects and programs for the public good within the City. Qualifying organizations shall either be City of Scottsdale programs or organizations that are tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code
The Herbert R. Drinkwater Youth Fund is used to support City of Scottsdale youth programs. Qualifying organizations shall either be City of Scottsdale programs or organizations that are tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
Contributions to the Endowment Funds:
Residents and staff may contribute to the Endowment Program at any time of the year. Donors may give to help meet community needs or to create a fund that carries the name they select. Or they may give later by making a planned gift or including the endowment in an estate or tax plan. Donors may give virtually any kind of valuable asset; those most commonly gifted include cash, shares of stock, mutual funds, bonds, and real estate.
Individuals, families, corporations, nonprofits, and groups of people who share a common interest may also establish an endowment fund for Human Services. The minimum startup fund is $10,000.
Donors may arrange a contribution by calling the Human Services Planner at (480) 312-2646 in Human Services Administration, 7340 Scottsdale Mall, Scottsdale, AZ 85251.
Role of the Human Services Commission with Endowment Funds:
The Human Services Commission reviews applications, hears presentations, and recommends grant awards annually to the City Council for the Scottsdale Community Endowment Fund and the Herbert R. Drinkwater Youth Services Fund.
The application funding deadline for Funding Year 2006/07 is 5 p.m. Friday, November 18, 2007.
