Jury Duty
"I've been selected for jury duty, what do I do?" | ||
| Jury duty at the Scottsdale City Court usually lasts the length of one trial, normally 1-2 days.
Please call the jury line at (480) 312-2774 after 5 PM the day before your scheduled service date. A pre-recorded message will tell you if you are to report, if you have been placed on stand-by, excused, or if you have been reassigned. For your convenience, the recording is in operation between the hours of 5:00pm and 8:00am. | ||
If you must report for jury duty, please arrive at the court promptly at the designated time. Late arrivals are subject to rescheduling without pay. Failure to appear or notify the court may result in your being fined $500.00 for contempt of court, pursuant to A.R.S. 21-223 . Further, please do not bring beverages, children, relatives, or friends with you on the day you report for jury duty. | ||

| Compensation: | ||
| Jurors who are chosen to sit on a jury receive $12.00 per day, plus a one-way mileage fee of 48.5 cents/mile. Prospective jurors who are not chosen, will be paid the mileage fee only. Payment is mailed to the address on your summons and you should receive it within four weeks of your service. | ||
| Parking/Court Access: | ||
| Jurors should park in the lot adjacent to the Scottsdale City Court located at 3700 North 75th Street. Parking in this area is free.

| Security: | ||
| Everyone who enters the court must pass through a metal detector and may be subject to a search. Purses, briefcases, and the like must be passed through the X-ray machine as well. Weapons, which include everything from pocket knives to personal protection devices, are strictly prohibited in the Court. | ||
| Postponements/Request to be excused: | ||
| If you are unavailable to report for jury duty on the date you were summoned, you may request ONE postponement. Please call the Jury Coordinator at the Maricopa County Superior Court, Office of the Jury Commissioner at (602) 372-5879 and have your Juror ID number available. | ||

| Upon arrival at the Court, prospective jurors are asked to wait in the lobby until everyone has arrived.
A Court Security Officer will then escort you to the jury assembly area for processing. Although we attempt to make jury service as convenient and efficient as possible, jurors should be advised that there can be extended waiting periods. Please feel free to bring a book, magazine, or something else to occupy your time. | ||
