Definitions

  • Wall shall mean any structure or device required by the zoning ordinance for screening purposes, forming a physical barrier.
  • Fence shall mean any structure or device meeting with zoning code definition of wall, excepting retaining walls.
  • Retaining wall shall mean any wall holding back more than 1-foot of dirt on one side.


Corral Fencing:

  • Corral shall mean a fence-type structure consisting of vertical posts and horizontal members, and so constructed that 75 percent or more of the vertical surface is open.  Example:  Split-rail or barbed wire. Chain link or other similar types of wire fences are not intended to be included in this definition and shall be classified as a fence or wall.  Corral not to exceed 6 feet in height shall be permitted on the property line or within the required front, side or rear yard in single-family residential districts (R1-35 through R1-190).
