Septic Systems
Step 1. Determine if a sewer line is required

If there is no sewer available within 660', and in some cases where it is not physically possible, the city does not require a sewer extension.
Step 2A. Septic Systems
If a sewer line extension is not required (based on city codes), property owners need to contact a septic system design engineer or a similar professional competent in this area and follow the County process for permitting and inspections.
The County refers to septic systems as on-site treatment facilities. Their
approval process is outlined at www.maricopa.gov/envsvc/WATER/oswtf.asp.
Step 2B. Extensions Required
When an extension is required, a plan review is required. Submittal requirements will be outlined by staff after completion of Step 1.
