Handlebar Helpers is a community "Earn a Bike" and apprentice program.

If you would like to volunteer, here are a few ideas (pdf/284kb/2pp). Once you find somewhere to volunteer, please complete the following:

The "Earn a Bike" Program promotes service to the community and is staffed primarily by volunteers.

The Handlebar Helpers Bike Team members recondition the bikes,  monitor the program, attend special events and pick up donated bikes. They are committed to bicycle safety and environmental stewardship.

Bike helmets are awarded with each bike and safety instructions are given at the award ceremony.
To donate a bike, bring the bike to our shop at Paiute Neighborhood Center (Map) on the west side of the property, building #6.  Upon donation, we can issue you a donation receipt.  If you cannot bring your bike for donation during our operating hours, staff at the Paiute Neighborhood Center can take your bicycle donation for us.  If you have questions, please call or email Matt Mays (mmays@ScottsdaleAZ.gov) or Juan Gonzalez (jugonzalez@ScottsdaleAZ.gov) at 480-312-0002.
