Approved Updates to the City of Scottsdale Alarm Systems Ordinance

CHAPTER 3 ARTICLE I OF THE CITY CODE - "ALARM SYSTEMS"


On June 3, 2008 the Scottsdale City Council approved the updates to the current alarm systems ordinance. The purpose of the update is to reduce the unnecessary waste of public safety resource due to false alarms, promote public safety and consumer protection, and recover program costs. False alarms waste taxpayer dollars and divert police and fire from other duties – some of which could save lives. The alarm systems ordinance was originally adopted in 1994 and was last revised in 2001. While the City has worked diligently to carry out the purposes of the original ordinance, changes in the alarm industry, community growth, technology, and increased program costs have necessitated updates.

The approved changes to the ordinance will go into effect as of September 1, 2008.
