Rebates

Commercial Rebate Program Closed on March 31, 2024

Commercial rebates will re-open in the summer. All rebates require a consultation or pre-inspection meeting. Do not start work on your project without contacting the Water Conservation Office. Projects completed without a "Notice to Proceed" may not be eligible for a rebate.

Residential Grass Removal Rebate Closed on November 15, 2023 and other Residential Removal Rebates closed on March 31, 2024.

The residential grass removal rebate received extraordinary participation this program year. Scottsdale Water is excited residents are converting grass to an Arizona-friendly landscape. During the winter months, Bermuda grass is dormant, making it difficult to properly remove. Grass, Pool, and Water Softener Removal Rebates will return in our new rebate program this summer.

Applied before the deadline? All documents uploaded using the secure link in your most recent email correspondence will be reviewed within one business week.

How to prepare for qualifying for the next grass removal rebate season

Dormant Bermuda requires minimal water - only about ½” of water per month to keep the stolons (lower part of grass stem) from drying out. When weather warms again, Bermuda comes out of dormancy, marking an opportune time to remove it. Grass must be maintained even if a rebate is planned. Per ordinance, ALL removal rebates require a pre-inspection before the grass is removed.

Do not start the removal process before the program reopens. Scottsdale Water cannot guarantee rebate requirements, eligibility, or amount for the residential removal rebates until Summer 2024.

Why rebates?

Scottsdale Water is committed to a permanent reduction in water usage while also keeping in mind the Scottsdale General Plan 2035 and principles of sustainability. Rebates are evaluated each year for efficacy and performance and are tailored to the highest water uses in the Scottsdale Water service area. By incentivizing efficiency, Scottsdale Water aims to conserve its water supply while also preserving the natural beauty of the Sonoran Desert.

Newest Offerings + WaterSmart

Continuing this year, Scottsdale is offering the Smart Home Water Monitor and the Water Management and Efficiency Technology rebates, designed so customers can be more efficient at monitoring and managing their water use in real or near-real time. This technology is especially helpful in identifying leaks, which waste both water and money and potentially cause costly infrastructure damage to homes, buildings, sidewalks and/or streets.

Did you know Scottsdale Water continues to install Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) technology? With AMI, customers can dive deeper into their water use by logging into the new WaterSmart portal, available through your Online Utility Account. When available, customers may also be able to set leak alerts and view hourly data. Sign up for WaterSmart and see if hourly use is available in your area.

Important Notice:

Scottsdale Water continuously reviews the water savings performance of each rebate and has been offering residential toilet rebates since 1992. We have found most toilet replacements occur at homes with existing high-efficiency toilets rather than replacing older, less efficient models. Since our residential toilet/urinal rebates have not had statistically significant water savings for the past several years, these two rebates have been discontinued. We encourage you to consider applying for other available rebates for both commercial and residential properties.
