Fats, Oils and Grease in your Home

Residential Sewer

You may not realize it, but your home is similar to a restaurant with the amount of food that gets washed down the drain every day. Washing fats, oils, grease and food particles down the sink or garbage disposal can result in them sticking to the inside of your sewer pipes and reducing the flow to the city's sewer system.

Eventually, the pipes can get blocked completely and result in a backup. The backup can happen in your home or in the city’s system through manholes and into the street. Sewer backups can:
    • Create serious public health hazards
    • Damage property
    • Create odors
    • Result in expensive repairs for both you and the city

Learn how to prevent this from happening in your home.
