Landscape Workshops for the Southwest

Up to 70 percent of your water use is outdoors. Scottsdale's Water Conservation Office offers free landscape workshops designed to help residents learn how to use water more efficiently and still have a lush, beautiful landscape.

Plant Care in the Desert
Horticulturist and Master Gardener Kirti Mathura will cover proper techniques for watering, fertilizing, pruning and other maintenance tips for your desert garden.

Learn to Prune - FULL
Pruning promotes the beauty, strength and health of your trees and shrubs. Learn basic pruning cuts in a hands-on outdoor setting from ISA Certified Arborist John Eisenhower. Class fills quickly so register early!

Program Your Irrigation Controller
Take control of your landscape watering with step-by-step instructions and hands-on practice adjusting the settings on your irrigation controller.

Landscaping for Wildlife
Turn your yard into a wildlife sanctuary! Horticulturist and Master Gardener Kirti Mathura will teach you how to create an inviting environment for birds, butterflies and other creatures using a wonderful array of native and desert adapted plants.

Drip Irrigation Design & Installation
Simple things you need to know! Irrigation Specialist Jeff Lee will show you how to design and install a drip system. Learn how to make your drip irrigation system efficient and easy to maintain.

Water-wise Gardening
Saving water, even in desert conditions isn’t hard as long as you’re smart about it. Join Gardening expert Carol Stuttard to learn some of the simple, inexpensive and low-tech gardening strategies of water-wise gardening. Find out about how to select, plant and care for vegetables, herbs, fruits and citrus for a bountiful harvest.

Go on a walking tour (approximately two miles) through Scottsdale’s five and a half acre Xeriscape Garden with Bill Casenhiser, the Garden’s caretaker.
