"In Our Own Voice" Presentation

Event date: Monday, September 12, 2011, from 9:56 AM to 9:56 AM

The Scottsdale Police Department’s Crisis Intervention program is co-sponsoring, with the National Alliance on Mental Illness, a presentation titled “In Our Own Voice.” In Our Own Voice is a unique, informational outreach program developed by NAMI that offers insight into the recovery now possible for people with severe mental illness. In Our Own Voice shows how people with serious mental illnesses cope with the realities of their disorders while recovering and reclaiming productive lives with meaning and dignity. Additionally, the program provides a safe way for consumers to share the ups and downs of their recovery and learn from others.

The presentation is scheduled for 6:30 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 13th, at the Scottsdale Police Department, District 1 Community Room at 7601 E. McKellips. This presentation is appropriate for family and friends of those with serious mental illness, health care providers, nursing and medical students, law enforcement officials, faith communities, students, or any community or civic organization that may be interested in learning more about mental illnesses and recovery.
