Residents called police to report a prowler in their yard. When officers arrived, they discovered an overturned vehicle on the caller's property. There was a large amount of blood inside and around the car, but there were no persons found in or near the car.
An extensive search of the desert was conducted with K9 and the assistance of PPD Air Support, however, no driver or passengers were located at the scene. The driver of the vehicle was eventually located at SHC-Shea with non life threatening head injuries. He initially told officers that he was the sole occupant of the vehicle. After further investigation at the scene and inquiries at area hospitals, a passenger was located at SHC-Osborn with fractured ribs and other injuries. Both Lassey and Murphy received multiple citations pertaining to the collision and for providing false information during the ensuing search and investigation. The traffic investigation is still ongoing and details of how the crash occurred are not yet available. |
